White Bay Power Station

White Bay Power Station

Waco provided scaffolding and labour to help stabilize, preserve, and clean a disused coal-fired power station in Sydney’s inner west, ensuring heritage consultants could safely assess elements for retention in there development. The internal spaces, contaminated with lead paint and hazardous substances, required thorough cleaning of all horizontal surfaces and repairs to seal the building and halt deterioration.

Key challenges included exposure to hazardous materials like asbestos and lead-based paint, alongside heat stress due to the hot environment. Workers wearing heavy PPE faced significant strain, necessitating robust safety protocols. These measures ensured a safe working environment while maintaining the structural integrity of the heritage site.
