Queen's Wharf Demolition
Client: Probuild
Location: Brisbane CBD
Status: In Progress.
The Building
Three government buildings in Brisbane's CBD will be demolished to make way for the city's new Queen's Wharf development. Nine surrounding heritage buildings have been carefully protected to prevent damage during demolition and construction work.
The reinvigorated Queen's Wharf resort precinct will feature a casino, hotels, apartments, 50 restaurants and bars, a retail quarter and a new pedestrian bridge to South Bank.
The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
The Project
Scaffolding, gantries and safety hoarding around and below the Margaret Street overpass were installed to prepare the site for hard demolition, which is scheduled to commence in June, 2017.
A team of scaffolders worked around the clock over the long weekend in April to erect 336 tonnes of Waco Kwikform scaffolding and 50 tonnes of support beams.
Waco is excited to be involved in such an impressive development, which will generate 2000 jobs during the construction phase and 8000 jobs once operational.
