Deakin University Protection Screen Project

Location: Burwood, Melbourne
Project Start Date: December 2018

The Building
Melbourne's Deakin University is transforming its Burwood Campus into a modern and innovative learning environment through the construction of the new Deakin Law School Building (LC). The nine-level building will provide 20,000 square metres of teaching and learning space, student support and wellbeing space, staff workspaces and basement car parking. We're thrilled to be involved in this exciting project, which is the University's first leading-edge sustainable building. Key design features include rainwater harvesting and use, glare control systems, activity and fitness spaces, and a fully accessible connection to end–of–trip active transport facilities.

The Project
Waco is supplying approximately 140 lineal metres of 15m-high platform screens with 1.0m wide platforms to cover the building perimeter. Our screens are covering 3.5 floor levels at approximately 4.2m floor to floor heights. The screens were pre-assembled off-site. They were then delivered and assembled to the job site as required. Installation to the building was by crane and climbing to upper levels by hydraulics.
